ABF on digi  nicer install and safer

Yes but harder to return to standard if you wanted or needed to.

not really,  straping a metering head down and a few pipes isnt a lot really compared to pulling the engine out
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Interesting replies so far, I'm leaning towards standard height, 15" P-slots, the G60 brakes and a ABF if I do mod it.
But then again, is it too rare even for that?
I suppose if I keep the original bits I take off it won't do any harm.

Know of any earlier mk2s?

If it were mine i would want to style it in keeping with the year but with a bit of a power upgrade, i have a hankering for an early mk2 and nearly bought one a few weeks ago but the deal fell through

See your from Coventry too, plenty of meets around here if you need any inspiration although you dont tend to see any early ones at them

Cool! Give us some places and dates and I'll see if I can make a few as long as its not on a Wednesday, I run Coventry Aircooled Vee-Dub Club and we meet on Wednesdays.
Got a mate with a VR6 vento and a mk2 GTD so I'll try to drag him along as well.

It's your car mate, do what you want with it :)
Just because it's rare doesn't mean you have a duty to keep it standard!

If you wanna lower it, lower it. If you wanna drop a 1.8T in it, drop a 1.8T in it.

If it was my car, I'd get some decent suspension on it (Weitec, Koni etc.) and then do some cheeky mods to the engine until it lets go.
And better brakes if you want piece of mind!

:)
