What do you mean by ''it doesn't seem to work''? They're the exact ones im using with ducting running from the drivers side one, it's all very neat and almost factory looking as well.

I wouldn't advise using lower air intakes as a cold air feed for your air filter, think how low the air intakes are, it's gunna be sucking through water/dirt/insects etc etc so will kill your filter in no time
