right, so this 99 T plate GTi im going to look at WILL definately have a mpg reading below the rev counter if it doesnt have the centre display?

no, mine is a 99 T with no centre display and no MPG reading

Dempsey: Look at the car if it doesn't have the red bit in the middle, press the buttons on the end of the right hand stalk and see if anything changes.

Are you 100% sure mate? Im on an S plate turbo, has clock mpg, av mpg etc. Just need to click the buttons on the end of the stalk for the wiper contols???..
