Sound deadening advice sought for mk2 gti

Hi everyone,
I need some advice. I stripped out the interior of my mk2 gti and intend to build it up. I was looking at maybe sound deadening the panels but not sure how much I would need. I only plan to run a small sub in the boot and perhaps some 6x9's. The car isn't really that noisy on the road and i've given up letting the world hear me coming down the road!! ;-)
Would it be worth doing this as i'm on a tight budget and if so where could i get some decent stuff but cheap cheap.
Cheers

Dynamat mate one pack for each door and two for the boot. The spray is awsome for areas y can't get 2

Thanks for the advice guys. Looked at dynamat... bit out my price range so got a "cheaper option" out of ebay (co. based in docklands). Anyhow it was really good, well i'll soon find out. Time to build a custom box...!!

I thought Sound deadening only stops the panels vibrating. Didn't think it was for stopping road noise!
Been applying sound deadening to my mk3 today. Can't say I've noticed a reduction in external noise tbh!

Someone recommended flashing tape, so i went to screwfix today and bought a couple of rolls at £3 each, one for each door. Fitted it today, bulks up the panels quite well.

flashing tape is essentially the same thing, and great if your on a budget. i used flashing tape on my old corsa (dont laugh!) and got good results.
however, dynamat etc does do the job better as it is specifically designed for optimum efficiency.

Was the flashing tape particularly heavy / made any noticeable difference, wil0?
