Finally done my S3 intercooler install
« on: 23 May 2009, 23:02 »
I asked Stu quite a while ago if it the S3 intercooler was worth doing and he said it was.  So finally I took his advice and went for it.
It took about 4.5 hrs and that’s going slowly and carefully. It went pretty smoothly, the only pia was getting the front section into position and bolting it back on. This is where I could have done with another pair of hands.
Once back together I took it for a gentle spin around the block to make sure nothing fell off or blew up.
Disconnecting the battery makes the dashboard light up like a kids toy but this went after the quick spin. Also it sets Revo back to stock so I had to change it back to performance settings.
I checked it with VCDS and had a few errors. Cleared all DTC’s but 1 kept coming back, a voltage too low, can’t remember the code now. After doing some surfing and reseating the MAF connector it didn’t come back, strange as I never touched it.

After doing some logging it definitely keeps IAT’s in check.
For me, it was defo worth doing.
Good advice Stu!

Good work young frosty

I still debate adding the S3 intercooler myself, even though I already have the Forge Twintercooler strapped to the front. Can't be overcooled you know

Why not just get the APR IC and cover some of your costs by selling the twintercooler?

On my car anything after 5k rpm used to be like flogging a dead horse. Now it revs cleanly to past 6k. It doesn’t pull like a train after 5k but it is better than before.
But what I’m really pleased about is the driveability, its fun to drive again  at least until it wears off anyway...
