MAF?***New coil in***
« on: 21 May 2009, 21:40 »
Still having problems after Mr C Pack decided to commit suicide.  My engine light came back on after being re-set with VAGCOM.

Problems:
Car not vac'ing at -20 more like -16-17
Not boosting to it's potntial - this varies sometimes it peaks at 15 PSI sometime it only reaches 12 PSI
Slight flat spot normally when I pass 2000RPM not really noticeable
And a flat spot between 3,500RPM and 5,000 RPM shown by the RR day.

Slightly miffed as I didn't think MAF popped up the engine light? Don't want to 'waste' £80 on a new one. A possible ecplanation is didgy MAF and or boost leak somewhere? Going to get it on VAGCOM tomorrow and see what it throws up!

I may just do that tomorrow, clean it with carb cleaner? Changed air filter about a month ago to a PiperX one.

I'm going to get some Forge boost hoses and probably a MAF and go from there I think.

Yeah spose I could borrow Dans later. Will get it hooked up on VAGCOM and see what's happening. There is no rough idle though :S Maybe it's the early stages of MAF failure.

MAFs CAN throw up an engine code if they are totally knackered, my mates 2.0 did.

It might be worth you disconnecting the battery for 10 mins or so to let the ECU reset everything, it might sort it out

im having probelsm at the mo which are similar to this, i get a lumpy tick over sometimes, the engine nearly stalls itself sometimes. Also when driving along i will occasionaly loose poer and it will bog down, and then power will return. from the documentation i got with the car it looks like its the orignal MAF, if so then i think its done its time
