Shame about the leather, no idea why people by a car with leather interior if there not prepared to look after it

Can I ask how much you paid for it, i'm trying to find a mk5 GTI at the moment but the prices are a bit inconsistent.

All the other defects should get done under warranty i would imagine as something like a seal has failed and can no way be passed of as wear and tear, allthough knowing the dealers I think they'll try and wiggle out of it if possible!

Any pics' of the rest of the car

Is that rust on the wheel hub, or just brake dust?

All condenstation is warranty work, as is the white worm.
Leather is down to wear and tear unfortunately - not covered.
Not sure about the wheels - I think it may be brake dust rather then rust. Tak ethem off and give them a good clean.

I also have a 06 Black 3 dr GTI whose warranty runs out on monday.

In this last week I have had the following done under warranty,

2 X Monza II
4 X Center Caps
Cambelt, tensioner, Backing plate??????
Water Pump
and I think the chain on the other side of the cambelt.  I assume it was this, but the person on the service desk was that specific.

I'm amazed that all this has been done with so little time left to run on the warranty, but my local dealer has really been fantastic.  It must be someting to do with VW Uk paying for the work rather than the dealership.

Welcome :)

Echo above, BUT for the leather, have a look at some Gliptone Liquid Leather - this stuff can work MAGIC on leather. TBH, yours looks like wear and tear.

This liquid *could* sort out that issue.....

Cheers lads, im going to ask VW to sort the wing mirror light if its not too much of a job else just make a note of it on there system for the future if the light stops working. As for the rear light will ask also for them to make a note and replace if it breaks in the future.

All four wheel caps I want replacing as I have proof in documents of the alloys being replaced with corrosion under warranty.

As for the leather seat I will see what they say, else will try the liquid leather which I ordered yesterday using knowledge from somewhere on this forum but cheers anyway dano.

The car is cracking, 3 door, manual, black, leather, 18" monza's, think its the 6cd dash stereo, ipod, armrest, not sure if it has any packs (how can I check??)

Had only 7k on the clock, just needs a wash and clean inside, came with a private plate I recon is worth £500 - £1000 and paid 13k for it total, bargain really!!

Its gettin the full cleaning treatment tomorrow, Will get car pics up soon.

Thanks again...

Sure you will be told the leather is wear and tear - sad fact but true and you are unlikely to get anywhere with a warranty claim with your vehicle.

Equally with the brake hubs - no chance whatsoever - I've just bought a brand new 9 mile Touareg and they look like this. Better off taking off the wheels, rubbing them down yourself and respraying the hats. Cheap manufacturing which has been going on for years. No effect on performance but that's the way it goes in the current climate. Sh*te for sure but fact of life I'm afraid

  • GTI 30 Edition, Reflex Silver, MFSW, Xenons, cruis
rust on the hubs is comon.
the other week i removed each wheel, cleaned em up, and hammerited each hub. replace wheel.
it only took 2 hours to do all 4 wheels, and looks great - especially with very clean wheels.
my ED30 is 2 years old.
may be worth doing it yourself - at leat it will be done properly, and less chance of the dealer damaging something
