Just Purchased a 06 Plate Gti - Warranty Related Advice - Back From Dealers Now

Hello all, long time lurker, thanks for all your comments, they have been a great help in choosing my new car.

I pick up an 06 plate 3dr Black Gti on Friday, 1 owner old lady, mint condition only 7000 on the clock!!! Got for a good price as well.

18" monza's were replaced last week with white worm under warranty, though they failed to replace the centre caps which had evidence of white worm?

Now the warranty runs out on monday, so the centre caps need replacing, I notice slight condensation in the rear top brake light, the light works fine is this worth raising? also the drivers leather seat bolster has a little wear, car's only done 7K miles, is this worth raising as a warranty issue. I appreciate pictures help and I will post them after I pick the car up.

Anything else I should check worth raising with VW?

Condensation in the high level brake light is common in the MKV cars.  VW will replace them against warranty, but beware as the warranty work means taking off the entire spoiler and this in itself has caused more concerns than the condensation with regards to alignment and poor re-fitting. One or two people have been brave enough to drill into the casing for the light and then re-seal it once the condensation has dissipated, but most people simply live with it as it is mostly cosmetic.

The leather is another known fault in the MKV's. Wear is usually found on the drivers side right bolster, but at 7k miles I would have thought it would be advisable to claim, especially as the warranty is due to expire.

my centre caps got replaced under warranty along with the wheels when white worm took effect.

Would never buy off someone old with that little miles. Clutch will be knackered and it will have had very short runs with high revs in low gears  

Im presuming she isnt 'that' old though if she had a GTI?

White worm is a b!tch. I replaced my centre caps myself and cost me £10 so dont fret over it. Seat bolster sounds odd, get some pics up

If your warranty runs out monday, raise whatever issue you can, it will only bug you after if you dont. 
Agree with Jules, odd the seats worn but this would indicate alot of town miles meaning geting in and out alot causing wear and tear.
I would like to know how much White Worm is needed/acceptable for a warranty claim?? as I'm geting a couple of specs on my wheels, but I have over a years warranty left and a couple of other issues like the petrol cap tag breaking up!
(Has anyone got any pics of a worn seat bolster too??)

Agree with the previous posts - yes raise the warranty issues immediately and personally, I would buy a new warranty, either from VW (not cheap but you should get some dealer/manufacturer goodwill but check max claim limit - it may only be £1000 per claim) or alternatively get a quote from Warranty Direct - they have a max claim limit of £7500/year and they will cover main dealer labour rates (with an additional premium of course). I know from experience they will do a good deal at the moment and it's best to get a quote before the manufacturers warranty runs out, so do it today and haggle for their best coover/price. Be rude not to

Either way, I'd get these issues sorted asap and give the car a full service and brake fluid change. Given the low miles I'd also give it a real l...o...n...g blast to blow the cobwebs out of it.

Mate any amount is unacceptable! You have a warranty for a reason. Get the white worm sorted, it will just get worse!

For the love of God get the brake light seen to, it will eventually knacker the LED's (mine is an 05 plate so is one of the oldest and its fecked becuase of this) and I'm looking at a £400 bill to put it right.  If possible get it reported so its on the system as a warranty repair but leave it until you have to do it.

Squeeze every last penny out of the warranty, deff get the worm seen to.
