Report this to the Police, if nothing more than to protect yourself from any future claims (hit and run). Might be the case where the offending driver turns up with your VRm saying you rear ended him and he/she drove off to protect themselves (and several cases of whiplash). Also get the Police to check all immediate CCTV and speed cameras to I/D the offending tw@t. They won't do this if you don't report it

^ Good point that, there are many people about staging accidents for insurance purposes.  Best to cover yourself.

Sound advice, will do. Should there be CCTV and its shown that he did an emergency stop for no reason, and they get his REG would it still be my fault?

The way Ive always understood it - no matter what the person in front does, you should be at a safe distance, or travelling at a safe enough speed, to come to a stop - whether the person in front does an emergency stop or not.

I know thats not very fair in this case, and hopefully the CCTV will change things and put things in your favour.
The strongest point you have on your side at the moment is the fact that the other driver didnt stop - thats deffo somet sus right there, and deffo counts in your favour.

Unfortunately I didn't get his reg as I was worried about my car (bits from the plate holder flew everywhere and I thought it was bits of my car so was concerned for that) I then looked up to see him speed off so didn't get the reg.

Jules, cost wise. Well its £403 for a new GTI bumper, GTI grille and VW badge from my dealer. Thats without paint :(

A place in Crayford called Volksapart want £215 for the same but its not OEM however they say that the parts are "insurance approved" and "made in the same factory", I am a bit sceptical as its considerably cheaper . . . If the jobs worth doing properly and all that. Anyone had any dealings with non OEM bumpers, grilles etc ?

Its so annoying as that money would have paid for my new tyres Im going to need soon :(

gutted for you mate

Don't even think about putting non-VW stuff on your car, I know it's a lot cheaper but it'll be worth it in the end!

No Prept on Wednesday then?

Iv done a bit of a bodge job / DIY and put it all together again, Iv even got the badge back on with some black marker pen it looks good as new (not lol)

I think your right, going to have to get the bits from VW. Im working this weekend so its going to have to wait till next weekend, Im a bit worried that I wont have it all fixed for Volkfest :(
