its the 7 pin thingy bolted to the top of the ecu bracket, its under the plastic trim over the scuttle area on the driver side :)

i've just cut out the mk3 speedo sensor plug and found that one of the cables was wired to a grey/red wire that is on G1 on the fuse box

have a look at the fusebox faq, you should be able to figure out what goes where :)

6 - grn - Dash plug pin 10 (rev counter pin 1)

i mean for the grey/red cable, it's next to the red/black one on the plug

G1
4 - blk - ECU pin 38, gearbox speed sensor, ignition coil pin 3
11- wht/blu - vehicle speed sensor pin 2

yes, thats the rev counter wire.

coil -> G1 -> inside fusebox -> U1 -> dash clocks rev counter
