Right just done my final configuration before I see the dealer tomorrow & it's scary, here goes:

3 door
Steel grey paint
DSG
Vienna Leather
18 inch shadows
Xenon
Lux & winter pack
RCD510 with Reverse camera
Park Assist
Sunroof
Flat Tyre indicator (£35)
Telephone prep & MFW

£29,500!!!!!!!!!! Plus service pack is over £30K.........for a golf        :undecided:

I'm starting to get really unsure on this now, thats a lot of money & the most I have spent on any car let alone a Golf..........

Maybe I should just get a standard one with RCD510 & Xenon, I'll pick up some after market Monza II's, cos I'm not that fussed on the shadows & save about £6K  :undecided:

Sorry guys, but Im not taking to this new MK6.
The only bit I like about it is the back exhausts being split.....
Maybe you need to see the car in person....

Oh and Schuey - no way would I spend £30k on it. I had to question twice whether I should spend the £19k that I did on my Ed30!! Although I dont regret it for a minute now!! lol

havnt been on the site for a while still got my edition 30 and its still a hard car to replace, it does every thing so well. just looked at the pics of the black mk 6 GTI is it me or does it look crap and the monza wheels do not look right at all. if i was going to spend that sort of money i would be in a BMW garage or seriously thinking of buying an Audi S3.
i think im going to wait for the new sirocco r

Unlike some other Mk5 owners, I really like the look of the MK6, but that is ridiculous money.  You could buy a used S3 for the same price which I think everyone on here would admit is in a different class.
MK5 GTI, manual, silver, dirty pipes.

I think while yes its a lot of money, a genuine realistic price is at least 10% off retail. i.e. if your spec is topping out at 29,500 then Id expect to pay around £27k, if you dont, then go to an internet dealer.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Good config, but personally I would fit an aftermarket Parrot Bluetooth kit - my VW dealer advised me to do this when I bought my Eos and he was right: it's a lot cheaper and a lot better (apart from the fact that it's not fully integrated). Also, have you actually seen steel grey in person? I'm not 100% sure as the names vary between France & the UK, but I've seen 'steel grey' on an ordinary Golf and it looks a bit odd - too blue & too pale, IMHO. Also - at least here on the Continent the 5-door outsells the 3-door 2:1 - something you might want to consider for when it's time to resell? Finally, I wouldn't bother with the rear camera, the standard park assist is easily enough, though maybe this is because I'm used to driving (and parking) a Ford Transit with no back windows :D

Just my opinion - good luck with the ordering ;)

I'd choose a 5 door DSG in red with cloth seats and 17" wheels.  No VW extras.
Then a superchip remap.

That's what I'll order when the Mk7 comes out.

I wonder if the two tone black on the Monza wheels on that black GTI is an optional extra ?

I couldn't forgive myself to spend nearly 30k on a mk6 GTi, that is still not as powerful as my ED30 is, or comes less base spec equipped in the first place.

I think my ED30 was 23.5k from main dealer on the first batches out, and I thought at the time it was a lot to pay for a Golf.

If I do replace it next year for a mk6 it will be base spec, with just Xennons and 18's, but even then it expensive from main dealer so would be an internt broker for me.

R20 would be a good and better option though.

Bare in mind that 30k has pretty much near as makes no difference EVERY box ticket, which imo there is no need for unless you have money to burn.
