I am a very happy bunny! My Dad's going to be buying a Nikon D-700 in the next couple of weeks (lucky sod - £1700 worth of camera!!!) and has just got himself a carbon fibre Manfrotto tripod to replace his 15-year old Tiltall.
I was always interested in photography (although not having done much in the way of Digital yet) and used to do a lot of Black & White processing/printing about 15-20 years ago.
Now it turns out I am about be given said Tiltall tripod and Dad's Nikon D40x. Not sure if I'll get the lens with it (28-55mm Nikkor I think), but it will still work with the manual lenses I have in manual mode.

I also found a bargain at a car boot sale - a 70-300mm Nikkor F4-5.6 G lens. Looked brand new. Can't use it on the D-40x as it has auto aperture which the lower-level Nikon SLRs can't operate, but it does apparently work well on the D-200, D-300, D3 etc etc. I paid a tenner for it so it's up on eBay and finishes tomorrow. Bidding is already at £36 and there are 29 people watching it!!!
What can I spend my winnings on? Decent lens for the D-40x methinks...
