Bonnet re-spray
« on: 09 May 2009, 10:27 »
Hi
i have been looking for a long time for a MK 2 Metallic black Bonnet with no luck. So now i am considering a re-spray. all it is is that the bonnet has lost it's colouring due to an error by the previous owner of taking out the heat shield but now one is back in there but there is hardly any colour left on it.

countless hours with good base polish with T-cut brings the shine up quite well but it just does not quite match the wings so i think it is a waste of time and probably £100 in prep.

So has anyone got any idea of how much for   a spray on the bonnet only. I don't want cans, i have done this before again it just falls short of it being a match

Thanks

go round all your local bodyshops and ask... in my area theres around 5 bodyshops. one is well known for being crap at prep but a good sprayer, he would charge you £50 labour if you paid paint. the top bodyshop is well known as the dogs danglies but would want £300 in labour to do it. all the others are just inbetween £150-£300.

ask around anyone whose had any work done before in your area and go get quotes.

Not got a golf yet! did have a 1.6 driver plan to have another project car soon ;)

The problem is that the metallic colours can be hard to match into the original colour. A friend of mine had a metallic green and another metallic blue and in the end he hd to have the whole car done.

So i think i might stick for a search but i can only wait so long as it looks crap!
