They could work. I don't think I've ever seen ones like them in a mk5 though.

That looks like Jonny Cocker's Ed30. I've got his old VW factory option Recaros.

Bear in mind that Jonny's seats don't tip, so you can't access the rear seats if you have a 3-door GTI. He doesn't have a back seat fitted anymore anyway.
