A non-chavved Scoob and an R32 sound pretty similar with a deep throaty roar when giving it some beans. As opposed to the GTI which is a more high pitched scream, similar to the aforementioned M3.

Back on topic....I had an '05 Gti a few months back which sounded very clattery and diesel like on tickover, I was told it was normal but took it to my vw dealer and he found there was a problem with the timing chain housing and some other part that I can't remember!! all was replaced under extended warranty luckily as the work totalled over £1400Get it checked out......
£1400 Thats an expensive rattle. If we could find the parts it could be DIY surely?

Out of interest is this constant or does it disappear when the clutch is pressed? Seems as though I'm getting a similar sounding issue when ever the car is in neutral and idling, once pressed it fads away until its engaged again in neutral.Luke
The DSG has a clutch
