My mate in VW reckon's they all sound a bit like that.. Tappety etc, it's the direct injectors or something.. Wonder why changing the chain would affect it though?

Baaaa.  Thought it could be the cam adjuster if not the chain.  It would be though wouldn't it, being the most expensive part.  If the cam adjuster is the noisy part(would make sence as it is only noisy when warm)wonder if I have to change the cam chain and tensioner?
Oh and thank you very much Lucas

Could you please give us the part numbers as well if you have them.

Could you ask them if they have to change all these items or do they change them all because they don't exactly know which item is a fault.

Hey Steve (Gene Hunt!!)

Got your mail, but get an error when tryin to reply......

Yes mate, after having all of the parts replaced the noise has gone.  Your symptoms sound exactly the same as mine were.  If your dealer gets stuck I am sure they could contact where I had mine fixed to get clarification - Wayside Dunstable 01582 500300 (ask for Hugh)  Sounds sooo much better, like it should.  Still running sweet as now and passed MOT on Friday - although got advisories on pads and discs, I have spent shed loads on this car, hmmmm!!!!!

Hope yours gets sorted mate, let me know how you get on.

Cheers
Chris

Happy to hear it's sorted, but WOW!!! £900-odd?

Trust there was some warranty in there somewhere.

Otherwise it must have been REALLY annoying to shell out that type of money for a noise.

Fair play either way.
