erm... i have a problem, dont know whether its major or not
hoping someone could tell me

well on my golf, the engine fluctuates (revs go up and down when not moving)
does anyone know a cure?

im told just changing the pistons could do the trick, does anyone know anything please?

You Could possibly take your foot off the accelerator pedal.

Or turn the engine off

not a lot, from just under 1,000 to just over 1,400ish

mate, my foot isnt on the pedal when it happens

i'd try replacing the mass air flow meter before stripping it down to do the pistons, but maybe thats just me being lazy

That'll be an air leak then. Most common for coming loose is the thick plastic hose at the back of the bay on the drivers side next to the brake fluid reservoir
