Problem with a Polo
« on: 21 April 2009, 21:15 »
This is from a friend with a Polo 6n2, he's having this problem and doesn't know what it is, any help would be great:

"basically, driving along, the speedo keeps going all over the place, sometimes stays on 0. the fuel gage keeps going up and down, the milometer aint clocking the miles on occasion

then, the main problem, when those things mess up, the car sometimes, just loses power COMPLETELY, engine doesnt cut out, but the throttle does nothing, then all of a sudden it comes back on"

Somewhere in the main loom, could even be a main feed is touching a part of the dash or chassis, be warned I had the same issue on my Citroen Xantia and in the end we had to strip most of the interior and remove the dash to find it.
