how long would it take to remove the steeering column and test the ignition,im told this is my fault,just spoke to a guy he said 4 hours at 40 bucks a shot!
If it's just removing the wheel and surround so you can gain access to the wires, this is quite a simple job and could be completed in about half an hour. Can't see why you would need to remove the whole steering column to test the ignition.
If it's any help try removing some fiddly bits before taking the car to the garage so they don't have to charge so much for the labour of taking it all apart for you.
