any1 welded theeeeee

a plate where the bonnet hing is ? lifted my bonnet today and the corner of it near the window dropped on to the body leavig a horrible little scratch . has any1 ever had this and is it a hard job to rectify im asuming that its a bumper and wings off job any ideas ?

You are not alone buddy, I also have this issue to deal with. Seems to me that how easy it will be depends on how confident you are pulling your car apart. The wing should come off fairly easily (it bolts on). I'm going to cut the necessary metal from a scrapped car and have it welded in.

yeah thats what i was hoping to get done. you have a white one too must be standard on white golfs lol well if you get it done before me let me know how easy it is and visa versa

If its broken there i would be prepared for one of two things.

1- Lots of welding

2- Looking for a tidier shell!

If you get the wing off check the condition of the bottom of the a pillars, they can rot terribly around there, ive seen them go that bad around there the door hinge has ripped out

most if not all of the bodywork seems fine ive been over most of it with fine tooth comb as it were it just seems to have gone on the passenger side the driver side seems ok but l can see a little surface rust coming through. a pillars are solid too yeah maybe i could get a newer shell but really haven`t got the pateince or resources to do that.
