Std cloth everytime for me......suits the GTi down to a T IMHO. I do like the part leather Ed30 interior tho but both interiors have Pros and Cons so it comes down to personal taste.

I think leather sells, but don't like it. Now spec'ing up an S-line A4 and would not consider full leath. ED30 is prefect a tad of leather and the all important inty cloth.

I personally aint too keen on the cloth look and wouldn't buy a Gti with it, It looks a bit dull to me. Lucky for me leather came standard on mine rather than an optional extra so I won't make a loss when selling (but then I dont buy a car to get my money back at the end).
I'll always use the heated seats if the seats really cold, or in summer I'd use the aircon to get everything ambient that way it would only be a short couple minutes there not to my liking!

When I was looking for a GTI I specifically wanted one without leather.  My previous 2 cars had full leather and I wanted a change, I would however be happy with 1/2 leather as in the ed30.  I actually think the red detail in the cloth seats brightens up the interior which would be colourless without it.

A part of the GTIs identity is the tartan cloth.

I think it depends on the quality of the leather. My parents both drive Volvos and the leather quality has always been top notch in them. Very very comfortable. I've never sat in a mk5 with leather but if the quality is good then it can only help.
Personally I love the look of the interlagos cloth pattern  I'd love a set for my car!
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

Love my leather in the GTi - always had it with heated seats in my cars. Far better than cloth, which stains and holds smells.

But its all personal I suppose, I would pay extra for leather, some people would pay extra for cloth. Hey ho.
