MK2 leather seats? alternatives?
« on: 09 April 2009, 00:19 »
I really want a nice leather interior for my golf, and gave up trying to find a genuine mk2 one because they are so expensive... are there any alternatives, such as a mk3 interior? audi, seat, bmw? i would really like to find something that is cheap and readily available, but still looks nice and fitting?

Your car looks really original, you could consider getting the current seats retrimed??

Yeah, it is standard apart from it being lowered, i want to keep it looking standard really... I contemplated getting them retrimmed, but thought it would be really expensive. Im a student, so cheap is always champion :D
The mk3 seats would look out of place i think, and i doubt they would be cheap...

To be honest, if you think second hand leather is expensive then a re-trim is probably out of budget. Have a search around, I've seen leather interiors go for about £100. Failing that Corrado front seats are a direct swap or if you can weld mk3 seats will fit but in my opinion aren't worth the effort unless they are Recaro's and if so, then they're generally expensive anyway!

I just bought a mk2 leather interior, not in the best condition, for £70. Got a tear on the rear bench, some wear on the driver's seat door-side wing, and a couple stretched seams on the corners, but for £70 I'm well chuffed :-D have a look on Ed38 For Sale section, f*ckin' LOADS of tasty interiors, a sh*t hot green Color Concept interior fr £300 (but that's the higher end of the price range I've been looking at)
