Suddenly everyone lookes shifty when you are carrying that.
Lol I've been there. Carrying £5k on a train (not for buying a car). Also taken £3k to a car auction and was paranoid it'd fall out of my pocket, despite it being securely stored.

Yeah!  Every 30 seconds I'd be feeling my inside pocket just in case it had evaporated!

I heard about people travelling to a destination for the meet up of exchanging cash for car, one guy turned up and waited for the owner to show to buy a mercedes(dead cheap), 3 guys went up to him and robed him as they knew he had alot of cash on him! ( basically a set up as they also said cash only!).
Not saying that would happen to you, but I'm sure you know to be careful.

The plot thickens... After just doing a google search on the reg i find the car on a list for an auction in chelmsford back in march although the guy is in manchester and has "apparently" owned the car for a year, he has no idea how it's there or why it's there but will get back to me... I doubt! Tried calling him but no answer, if he bought the car at auction and wants to make a quick buck by selling it on then fair enough! I'm still getting a bargain! But if im handing over nearly 10k for a motor then i want the person to be honest with me no matter what bargain it is!

If you do eventually go ahead - check the car over and if happy, take the vendor to a branch of your bank (having pre-arranged it) and  draw cash there?

Theres always a right motor out there for you somewhere, just gotta find one that you have a good feeling about I think.

Yup, I agree, will keep waiting... Although the Leon FR or Cupra is looking mighty tempting now!

get someone to drive down with you. Keep them out of sight with the money until your satisfied... then make the call
