Doesnt sound worth it. You shouldnt be modding if its on finance so the ED30 isnt worth the extra just to leave standard. The R32 is much better as a standard upgrade but not worth you losing so much!

5yr plan is along time on a car

if none of the above work out, save the money you thought about splashing out and in 4yrs time buy something even better

the gti is a good platform for now i would say.
also a simple remap, i would doubt it would get detected, otherwise i read about the ones where you have a dongle to revert back to standard etc.

And be careful what you post...... They use forums like ours, and facebook etc as evidence. .......

I either stump up the cash or go down a personal loan route then you can do what you like  provided you keep your insurance informed.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

I didn't even think I couldn't modify it as it was on finance for the next 4years!???, I guess as its not fully mine yet  :lipsrsealed:(got a better deal compared to a loan)
I'd always tell the insurance company of any changes anyway.
What happened to that Seat then to go so wrong?

If you look in your finance docs you will see how much it costs to pay off after vertain periods i.e. one year in, half way through etc... The cost of paying it off early is usually less as you dont pay the interest on remaining time, but sometimes there is an early payment fee,

have a look at your paperwork, its not too hard to find the right bit,

I'd stick with your current model, give it another year at least and then if your still wanting something different then look to upgrade to a MKVI..

NEO66, Is your car on Finance or is it a personal loan?

You do know that if anything happens to your car and the finance company find out - you could be up sh!t creek without a paddle..or indeed a car!

A guy on Seat Cupra net got raped by the finance company when his car went wrong and they found out he'd modified it. They took the modifying as a breach of contract, took the car off him, made him pay for the repair and pay for the car being returned to stock.

PS.   Don't have nightmares

Flipping heck!

I think he had done some major mods and wanted stuff fixed on warranty and he was told that the mods invalidated the warranty and presumably he got arsey and the finance co pulled the car.  I suspect that he was a bit of a cock tbh.  Firstly for thiking he could modify the car so much and think he was entitled to a full warranty and then for doing that to a car on finance, drawing attention to it and being surprised when they pulled it.

Thing is it wouldn't have been in either the dealer or the finance co's interest to refuse the warranty work or pull the finance but I suspect he just pushed it too hard.  A bit naive in thinking he could have his cake and eat it.  I would think that if you do modify your car while under finance its fine as long as you don't make an ass of yourself at the dealers when they say the mods aren't covered!

 If you do want to get rid then im sure the outstanding finance could be paid off with a personal loan. As rskardon said, dig up the paperwork!! :nerd:

why? at the end of the day remap about 5 - 700 sheets, exhaust 1000 sheets, evoms intake - 300 sheets this will really improve throttle response and will be above a std ed 30 AND is alot lot lot lot cheaper than an ed30!!

The difference in price between a std gti and an ed30 of simialr age and mileage is a lot less than you think, especially when you consider that you won't get a penny back for the £2k worth of upgrades when it comes to selling. Add to that the ed30 will probably hold it's value slightly better than the gti (both have good residuals).

But I agree that the OP would get raped if he were to try and trade it in now!
