timing setup

in past ive fitted a cam belt and had cam pulley on the wrong way so today i decided to set my car up and have just re read the setup guide in the maintenance section am unsure if i have set my timing correctly
when i found out i had cam pulley on wrong i rectified this but when i put belt back on i didnt remove no1 spark plug i just set crank marking to the 6 degree btdc mark but the other markings were set as stated in the guide
today i timed up by having someone rev car to 2.25k and then adjust dizzy to line the 6degree mark up
should i have set crank to tdc and then adjusted dizzy to 6degrree at 2.25k
or will it be ok the way i did it

come on guys someone must know if it will be ok or do i need to reset crank to tdc and start again

cranckshafts are allways at TDC in all timeing procedures.   you move the dizzy to 6 deg btdc with help of timeing light when the ecu is in setup mode

cheers danny even though i set it wrong it still has more poke than it used to so cant wait to see what it will be like when redone also will the co need to be setup again once timed up correctly

it might have more poke, but be careful you don't start it "pinking" ..this can result in damaged pistons and engine failure... Pinking comes from too much Advancement on timing... too much advancement can also give "more poke"!!!

...I think thats the right way round!

Hey Richard, If you're still having trouble after this week you could bring the car round ours and my other half will give you a hand (we did ours ok so should be able to sort it!).

We're on hols this coming week but we're back a week tomorrow. Anyway you've got my number I think if you need help!
