I really don't think you did to bad TBH. 120MPH is silly on a public road. You should be glad you didn't kill anyone.

Whilst 118mph is a lot and will obviously warrant punishment, to say you're lucky you didnt kill someone is ridiculous. Without knowing when or where the offence was how can you say? Now i'm not defending going that fast and I never would; but if it was say 2am on an empty motorway the only person you're putting in danger is yourself. Therefore, its your decision really. Obviously if this was at a busier time then yes, you are putting others in danger and that's not so clever.

Also, i think you did pretty well on the ban too. My old man was banned due to 'totting up', but his cumulative speeding amount across the 4 tickets was 1mph less than you were over! (presuming u were on a 70mph road) and he got 6 months!

Doing well over 100mph...even on a motorway involves a conscious decision to do so. In the right conditions you'd receive a ban when caught, in the wrong conditions I would have thought you'd be charged with dangerous driving and then you could be looking at a custodial/community service. You are one lucky guy to get just a short ban and a fine!

Bit extreme...already had all the 'that is silly do do that speed blah blah blah' more than once, spare me. I know I did wrong and I am being punished for it.

It was just after 1 in the morning, visibility was clear and the road was dry. Coppers words not mine. There was only one other car on the road which I took over before hitting triple figures.

R32UK...I get what your saying this country is completely backwards. A lad just down the road from me was in court last week he got £160 fine and his license endorsed...he doesnt even have a license!!! Same with his cousin he has been in court 3 times for driving without a license and insurance he walks away with a slap on the wrist and a small fine.

Yes mate, but a ban on your licence will affect your insurance a lot more than 8 points..

So does a ban still appear on your licence???

Think its an SP50 code on my license..speeding on a public highway and I have to say how long the ban is for. Insurance will go up £120 so not too ban imo.

Yep they ask for motoring convictions not points

Unlucky, can i have your car for 70 days please?

Unless your a really fit 'bird' that will reward me in sexual favours then no sorry

Edit: Your Male so deffinately not haha.

Well your right this place is messed up!!!

Despite proving that it was the insurance company that was at fault for my eight points I was still given the points and a hefty fine. I even went down to court with my life insurance, car insurance, business insurance, home contents, medical insurance, pet insurance and proof of previous van insurance just to prove that Im not the kind of person who tries to get away with not paying insurance!!!

So much for people using their common sense
