Wheel bearings.

Just wondering how commen they are on the Mk3 Vr6 ? mines done 135000 miles and deffo has wheel bearing noise, thing is i cant work out which side, front or back just now ?

Was gonna nip the backs up slightly to see if that helps...

Are the front or back bearings commen on higher milage cars ?

I would say for the price of the bearing kits, just replace them both sides. I just replaced my rears and i have done 126k. Not sure when the fronts were last done.

all the bearings are pressed in, so its not a simple fitting!! Mine had new front bearings at 80k and new rears at 120k and another front at 125k (but it has a dodgy hub so needs another soon!!)
rears are max of £10 each and fronts about £15 a side

Tbh, i would just replace them for the price of £12 per side. lol.

fronts are £14 and rears are £6 from GSF, so worth changing them.

but make sure you buy the kits and not just the bearings as they have circlips that really need replacing and a dust seal on the rears (I'm not sure if gsf sell the kits as i refuse to use them!  :lipsrsealed:)

This is fine if you are competent at replacing them. If not, you can add a £50 plus to this sum! :wink:
