Actually, I do have a genuine vagcom lead, but don't have a lappy, and I'm foooked if I'm unbolting all my desktop pooter!

Yeah, the stealer cleared the individual fault code, but because they didn't actually fix the fault - so a new fault code is stored, and the light keeps coming back on.
But there must be somewhere in the main coding which tells the whole airbag system exactly which components are fitted - just like the side airbags in the seats - most Golfs have them in the front seats (apart from the Recaro shell buckets), but hardly any have them in the rear seats. So there must be some way of 'permanently disabling' the faulty component, and then re-enabling it when they actually fix it. But trying to explain all that to my local stealer - will I'd be more effective if I p!ssed of the bow of the Titanic!

My mate has the Snap-On one - the 2500 one I think. But he has no end of trouble with his VAG coding adaptor - and it has repeatedly failed to correctly read full VAG codes, and more worryingly, fails to clear them too!
Another local business does use vagcom, but he does charge quite a bit - and I don't mind paying to get the job done, but I don't really want to pay for loads of time whilst he searches for something he actually can't do.
