Hi there,

By fitting one of these to my 16 valver, will it improve the car's performance aswell as allowing it to run on normal unleaded. ???

Cheers

all it does is remap the ignition so you can run normal unleaded without it pinking. in the past the way to stop this was retard (i think) the ignition but that robs you of power. it doesnt do much in the way of "performance" and i personally dont think its worth it when fuels like optimax are available. you wanna look at the ron number, the higher the better and leaded is higher than normal unleaded.

the kstar was only really used when the highe octane fuels were unavailable. as veedubgti8v says it was designed to stop the car pinking. with optimax around you don't need it!

plus they don't make them anymore so you'd be lucky to find one.....

Cheers Guys!

I'm currently running it on Optimax and its pinking quite heavlily (now the summers here and the windows are down, I can hear it) but it's going on the rollers next Monday for a good tune up which I'm hopeing should illiminate it + I'll get to know how healthy the engine really is.
