Brake pedal travel
« on: 22 February 2009, 18:44 »
Hi there,

My brake pedal has suddenly developed alot of travel...

I checked my fliud resevoir and there is no fluid whatsoever! I havent totally lost brakes but they arnt exactly good. I dont think there is a split in the system as i dont have a dual braking system so i would have lost brakes altogether if that was so.

What do i do?

Cheers

tom

No fluid thats not good!!. you have a leak somewhere. Check the seals below the fluid reservoir these can leak. Could also be a perished pipe. My advice drive slow or not at all.

yeah... looks like there has been some fluid coming from where the brake cable joins the cylinder... that little nut seems quite wet.. i just hope it aint gonna cost me bomb to be honest...

Seal is probably leaking then where the master cylinder joins the fluid reservoir. top it up for now but get it sorted ASAP

all mk2s have a dual brake system, the front & rear holes on the cylinder are on seperate brake circuits.
