MK2 NOOOOOOB
« on: 19 February 2009, 14:08 »
ok, i know this is old news and probably a waste of your reading time, but i dont care, so here goes, im sitting at work and its taken several months of indecisive decision making, but ive decided im selling my mk4 for the MK2 GTI, preferably 16v otherwise 8v if i cant find a 16v. Reason behind this is I want to begin a project on a dirt cheap mk2 and have it ready for Edition 38. Its really exciting for me as the MK2 is my fave out all GTIs. So the plan is to sell my mk4, source a good running MK2, evaluate the work needed, locate all the parts i want and stick to a budget. Ive seen two i like very much, one which is a local guy, wants £700, has had a engine rebuild at 130k currently 135k, black but needs serious exterior work, also this a twin headlamp model, he didnt give much info on service history or , otherwise autotrader... £800 131k, jetta headlamp model (which i really want), met black (repainted) really good condition, actually just read this...

Full Description: Glossary of Terms

131,000 miles, 1.8 8v GTi, Long MOT till 12/09 and TAX till 07/09, Good reliable daily driver, Just had Oil+Filter, Plugs + Leads, Dizzy + Rotor, Coolant change, Jetta lights, Few little marks here and there but really good for the year, nice example!. £800 ONO.

... Going to ring this guy to see if hes had an engine rebuild because it seems like this guy knows his stuff.

The plan is to get some engine mods done, lowered, black deep dish alloys, german plates, leather G60 seats, and finally going to try my best at mixing up the interior with some MK4 GTI bits and pieces and basically see how it goes from there.

The classifieds section better get ready for me

Soon as its started i will post up everything for you guys.

Sounds like a man on a mission.

I went from a Mk4 1.8T to a 16v and have never looked back.... Well, maybe when I spot another bit of rust on my Mk2!!!

I share your enthusiasim but the budget thing will get blown out the water, it did for me anyways.
Bought a mk2 to use as my runabout/project but i ahve driven it once, its been laid up in the drive totally stripped out getting rid of the water ingress and rust as best i can and awaiting my mk5 gti seats going in.You cant move in my garage now with mk2 interior and spare parts lol.
