Brakes on a ED30 Vs GTI V

Anyone else thought their brakes are crap on the ED30?

My previous GTI V was ace, but on ED30 they are rubbish.

V Strange as thought they would be the same, Guess the extra hp causes probs!

There is nothing bad on VWs.. merely 'an opportunity to upgrade' :wink:

I would have thought initially that VW would have put the R32 set-up on the ED30 as standard. They have the R32 fronts on the Leon - which is cheaper, so why not the ED30?

Once the car is remapped you REALLY do need to upgrade the brakes :cool:

yeah i noticed the same thing when i test drove the ED30 - almost put me off the golf
then i get my standard GTI and the brakes feel excellent!

I'd love upgraded brakes but i find the standard GTI brakes to be brilliant and really cant justify it.  How much are the front disks and pads for the GTI??  £550 for complete cupra brakes is very tempting and if the gap isnt too much i may upgrade to those when i need replacements :rolleyes:

Do the R32 disks fit under 17" wheels or are 18" needed to acommodate?

ED30 come with 18" wheels as standard
