To be honest, it's a shame its gone, and will no doubt add to the downfall of this forum.

What happened to my freedom of speech!? Oh, I forgot, this forum does not allow it!

Surely it would be the members' own fault if they post up incriminating evidence of themselves driving like a tw@t. Saying that, I appreciate that the forum does not want to condone such behaviour, or be seen to be promoting such driving.

It is getting a bit like that isn't it... and its a shame as this forum used to be really good.  A really good example was a thread of mine that was recently deleted when certain offending posts from it could have instead been cleaned up... very heavy handed moderating.  There was a Mk2 thread that was cleaned up in this manner so I'm not sure why the different approach in the Mk5 section

It's impossible to keep everyone happy. If you want 'free speech' then you get comments like:

I'm also very disappointed that the mods didn't pick up on this.

If too much is removed:

very heavy handed moderating.

In case it wasn't obvious, the 'what car have you beaten' was removed for very different reasons than normal. It was asked to be removed and was. There are a number of moderators on the forum, none of them will have exactly the same view on what should/shouldn't stay. We don't have time to sit around and discuss each thread in detail, an individual just makes a decision, I might not agree at times but that's how it goes.
