Hi all,
Just a quick question t see if anyone has had the same problem.
On a very cold morning when i start the car the coolant alarm comes on, saying check coolant and STOP engine. I have checked the coolant level and all is ok.
Is this normal?
Cheers Chris.

Not me either. Have you checked your coolant levels? Only thing I have noticed on exceptionally cold mornings is a read error from the nav disc. Quick off and back on fixes that though.

I personally haven't had this issue but it is a common one on the mk4. The cure was to replace the tank assembly with the sensor (its pretty cheap) or if your happy the coolant level is OK ignore it, the issue only strikes when its cold. The mk5 coolant tank and the mk4 tank look identical so no surprise the issue has been carried forward. HTH

Is your car under warranty?
If it is take it to VW and ask them to replace the tank and sensor due it being a common fault and see what they say.
