G60 Mk 1 Conver from mk2 HELP ADVICE NEEDED
« on: 28 June 2004, 20:17 »

Hi VeeDubbers
I'm Just about to start to move a G60 +200 bhp lump from my Mk2 into a Mk1, If any of you guys have already done the job and can give me any guides as to what not to do and what to do's, please drop me a line. as I want to have it ready for ultimate streetcar at Pod next month so I've not got a lot of spare time to make to many F**k up's.

At present I have the whole Mk2 and whole Mk1 coming this week with uprated G60 brakes and poli bushes strut braces for top and bottom front.

I know I have to overcome problems anybody got any suggestions with any of the following:-

Engine bay loom?

Engine mounts?

Driveshafts?

What about gear linkage?

Extra room for oil cooler and intercooler ?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give.

Regards Rob

Hi Rob, that conversion will keep you out of the pub for a while ;).
Engine loom should not be a problem, if you look at the circuit diagrams you will be able to work out what lives and earths you need. Hook up oil, alt, oil temp and water temp etc for the dash using the mk1 loom. The g60 engine management loom and ecu is not to difficult to fit.
Use the mk1 engine mounts.
What g/box do you plan to use, the 02a is not a straight forward conversion (cable shift, 100mm inner cv joints and the mountings are different.
Is the oil cooler a water housing type one on the filter housing?.
Intercooler, not sure :-\.
Steve.
