Thanks guys, I am changing the rear sensor today in the hope i rid the car of its ABS demons. Think i might change the ABS rings considering how cheap they are and for the pig of a job it is to change the rears.

The plot thickens! Well ive spent most of today changing both rear ABS sensors aswell as the ABS rings and rear wheel bearings (thought i might aswell if im taking the discs off).  So the car now has four brand new ABS sensors, two new rear ABS rings. After my efforts i took the car for a spin hoping the ABS light would dissapear, but it didnt  However the handbrake/brake light that was on alongside the ABS light has now extinguised. So im still left with just the ABS light.

I dont have access to vagcom at the moment, so cant rescan the car. I disconnected the battery for 30mins to try and clear any fault codes, but still the light persists.

So it is looking like the ABS pump is to blame. I have been informed that most of the time, when the fault code comes up as ABS pump its actually the ABS ECU that is knackered? Is this generally the case?

Also the part number on my ABS pump is one that no-one seems to of heard of! (1H2 614 217 E) I can find them ending in A, B and C etc but nothing exists that ends in E!

Can i mix and match the pumps? How important is the last letter in the part number?

Any input would really be appreciated, as i am getting seriously frustrated with the car. I dont want to have to hate her!

You really need to get it rescanned first
