Ok, had to go out this morning to do a headgasket on a friends rover 800 vittesse turbo, that took 5 bloody hours so i didnt get back to the golf until 2.30

But im pleased to say progress was still good.

Timing chains are now fitted and timed correctly, upper and lower covers on, new rear main oil seal fitted, flywheel and brand spanking new clutch kit fitted and gearbox and all engine mounts now attatched.

Twas a long day though as i had no breakfast... or lunch.... gonna order a curry shortly lol.

So, i reckon by lunchtime tomorrow i will have my fully working Vr6 back

Hi
Well done. Thanks for the photos. We had a 2.9 VR6 with original chains at 215012 miles.
I am at a loss to figure why you needed to do them at 125000.

I am shocked yous lasted that long, a lot are getting them breaking a lot sooner.
