it's not that hard to change on a mk2 and there are a couple of ways of doing it,
a) take engine and box out do on floor and put them back in.
b) remove the gearbox from the car. remove both driveshafts gear linkages, clutch cabel and erath strap speedo cabel , support enigne on jack undo the 3 19mm bolts the littel 10 mm sods 3 beneath and 1 at the back, remove gearbox mount, support engine on jack remove starter and bracket to frount mount lower engine and waggel box out
c) or just remove the one driveshaft release the 30mm hub nut on the other side, unbolt box from engine and release engine mounts with motor suported on jack and support box with a rope, then lower the motor and split the box away and change the clutch through the gap without actualy removeing box from car.
b) is probaly your best option once you have done a few c is fastest. a is allways an option if it just isn't happening
