Fault code reader fun...

So, while borrowing a fault code reader to sort my wifes car out, i thought i'd plug it into my 2.slow to see if anything was up with the old girl...

Just 8 (!) codes. Eeeeep. Made a note of the numbers, then erased them. Will let the Mrs drive it tomorrow (big long run) then check again tomorrow night to see if they come back.

Most of these weren't in my little book of codes, so may have to do some googling, unless people here know them off the top of their heads:

17841
17834
16518
17910

Hopefully they were old codes..  :cry:

= Injector Circuit Fault in electrical circuit for cyl 1-4

17841 = Sec.Air Inj.Sys.Pump Relay Circ. open

17834 = Tank Vent.Valve Open

16518 = O2 Sensor Circ.,Bank1-Sensor1 No Activity Detected

17910 = Fuel Pump Relay Circ. Short to B+

Holy mother of god. Surely with all these faults my car wouldn't even start, let alone drive!?

Is connecting a fault code reader to your car like self diagnosing via google? Should i not do it unless there was something wrong?

Ok, so all codes were cleared last night, then the Mrs took the car today. Checked again tonight.. and... 7 of the codes came back.

Bollocks.

Anyone got any idea what all these could be pointing to? It all sounds fairly serious, but there doesn't feel like there's anything wrong with it?

Actually, i think the 02 sensor fault was the one that didn't come back  :laugh:

The rest all appear to be electrical problems, and a very rough google shows someone on another forum suggesting that cold weather, and a not great battery could case these faults?

Does that sound even remotely right?
