Rear de-mist button not working (or even lighting up red)

I have checked the fuse and it 'appears' fine. Can the switch be removed fairly easily off the dash to check? it sits flush to the dash so not sure how I would prise it off.

Any advice, or suggestions as to what else could be at fault?

flat head screwdriver and just lever out - they pop out easily

I popped the button off , but underneath there was a little circuit board with LEDs on it.

Does this come off to, to expose the switch mechanism? Couldnt see an easy way of removing it.

go to vw and just buy a new relay

where does this get fitted? and is it an easy job?

also are VW relays expensive?

i will have the relay and switch assy off my donor if you want to pop round and try them first then just buy the one that fixes it?
