seems like the front nick....

usually left first then the right bites and sometimes it looses the rear end a little  and swigs left like only 1 rear is catching once the fronts have slowed it down a little.. the tracking needs a little attention but that would,nt course this much chaous... im not talking slow speed here but neither excessive breaking either. In situations when most cars can handle it.

 tyres....good
brakes good....
tyre pressure...good
my driving skills good......

i just dont undestand it

if your sure every thing is new then check the bias valve in the rear

see if the pads are stuck in the carrier

i would pump the pistons out on the front calipers frirst see if there is corrosion on them causing it to stick then release suddernely be carfull not to pump it all the way out though

then i would bleed all 4 brakes and see if there is air in there , i doubt it as you would have a spongey pedal ,

but after that i don't know

other things maybe a suspension bush if fubar'd and causing the car to pull ??

just have a really good luck and see , it maybe something small you have overlooked

i'm runnign 280's  and done have locking problems, as said tho if you just stamp on the brakes they'll lock the wheels instantly,  but feed them in you can feel the arse end of the car lifting somethign spectial and it stops pritty damb quick.

tho have had grabby brakes before,  try chaning the pads , some cheep pads have some quite nasty tendancies so lob them in preferance for ebc ferdoo or some other good brand  and them change the brake fluid, if that dosent cure it have the suspention and trackign / camber looked at
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

What brand are the tyres and how old are they?

Mate if you want abs go for it. Its a nice peace of mind thing to have. Of the top of my head the things i thing you will need are

Hubs with wheel speed sensors in
Wiring for wheel speed sensors
Abs pump unit
Abs ECU? Not sure if its got one.
Brake pipes to go to Abs pump unit
Wiring diagrams

Prob a few more bits.

It wont be an easy thing to do but should def be possible. Why not be the first to give it a try. Good luck!

just looked at my G60 set up i have in my boot

and this had ABS :) so i guess some MK2;s had ABS of some sort

if your lucky you may find a car in a scrappy with ABS you can rob

personally i dislike early ABS systems as they were slow to react and i little unreliable

has any one ever driven a MK4 escort with ABS with beltsdriven off the drive shafts   :shocked:NW THAT TAKES SOME CONTROLLING

thanks peeps im gonna give the break balance a go in the morning while i fit my backbox..

the link says if the cars been lowered and the brake balance has'nt been ajusted then this can course problems.

i bought the car already lowered id say at least 60mm id even say 80mm coz its quit low, its so low when i took it to an exhaust garage last week they would'nt fit it because its to low to drive on the lifts.

as for the abs it seems like a biggy so i'll leave that until i know what im doing im guessing i'll be able to get all the bits of a mk3 so i'll see what happens.

thanx much

You might be better off finding a Seat Toledo - they're a lot closer to the G2 than the G3.

A guy on here has just hoicked an ABF out of one, so he might have all of the required still in his donor.

I would love to have a drive of your car. It sounds like a right laugh. Especially round a track!!

In all seriousness though, it sounds like the brakes need to be sorted quickly. Before you have another catastrophe.
