pain in the arse mate, changed mine about five months ago.
if you've got power steering then you need to drop the alternator off, then drop the power steering pump to get up under neath the water pump. the thermostat is there behing the elbow pipe going in to the underneath of the water pump.
straight forward but time consuming......
(changed mine but it turned out I only need to change the heater bypass valve)
