Pioneer FHP80BT - Mute on permanently! - NOW FIXED!
« on: 05 January 2009, 09:57 »
morning all

got myself one of these installed in my 2001 MKIV Golf

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-fhp80bt-p-6552.html?cadid=gp5flspane6ejmk51607aqp1o6

which was working fine up until a couple of days ago when it would randomly mute itself and then start again

went to use it last night and it's now permanently on mute!! thats for the CD, USB stick and Tuner - no sound at all!  Pressing the mute button doesn't un-mute

is there anything i can check before having to send the unit back?? i.e. is there like a mute wire in the back that could have come loose??

any suggestions greatly received

on the back of the h/u there will be a yellow/black wire that is for tel mute if you had an aftermarket phone kit fitted
if this is touching the chassis of the h/u or is touching earth it will mute the h/u

the unit has the phone kit built into it - would this wire still be present?  :undecided:

Rhyso, what do you think of this headunit (when it is working correctly :P)

I am thinking about purchasing one myself but i am concerned about the navigation when using a USB Flash drive or Ipod.

I have been trying to find one in a local dealer but dont seem to be available!

Navigation?? the unit i have doesn't have navigation...............

when it works tidy its a great piece of kit for the money

ah yeah that would make more sense haha

dead simple - press left or right on the centre button to scroll through tracks and up and down to scroll through albums

there is also a List button which allows you to scroll through all the folders on the USB stick; i assume its the same for the iPod but i don't own one so can't comment

my mate finally bought it for hispolo this weekend, its such a quality hu for the price.

comes with a usb type lead but either plug your ipod comp lead into that or just the ipod comp lead straight into the back of the unit, dead easy.

As for the mute prob i would suggest the same, unless youve hardwired and connected the mute accidently
