Windscreen Seal...where from?
« on: 31 December 2008, 13:14 »
I've been in touch with my local VW and it would seem that the windscreen seal has been discontinued...

Does anyone know where I could get one from?

Or if anyone has one would they like to sell it to me

Cheers

Sit in the driver seat and put your feet against window and apply pressure, get a screw driver and start in the top corner folding the seal forward. Can be a pain to get going as the seal pops back, easier if there's two people. Once it starts moving it pops straight out. Put it back in with some cord over lapping it at the top, Vaseline also helps.

Exactly.. jsut a flat blade worked around slowly, youll find some areas of the seal will release gradually, then you can gradually work it out. a pusher and a catcher.. and it will pop out, after all the seal is only lipped around in a U shape!

We managed it no trouble on my white one!

Alternatively, you could get a windscreen bonded in as per G60 and Rallye's. Will make the body more rigid too, but you will pay for it!

Hmm...ok, cool...will give that a go...

I cracked the last one i took out by doing something similar but at the time I didnt really care how it came out as i was replacing it anyway.
