Nice, mine was a black one but a few years older than your bro's mates.

Must admit that the golf won't do over 80 in first like the blade (not that you'd want it to).

But the Golf wins hands down in comfort and keeping you dry when it's p**ing down with rain.

It's the first car I've had where you can jump in and drive up to Whitby in and not have to stop twice to try and re-aligh your spine and also return almost 45 to the gallon on the motorway (as long as your not too heavy footed).

Plus, the build quality is so good that you feel like you are in a good solid motor that'll keep you a lot safer than some of the other newer cars out there if the worst was to happen.

Yeah, is a solid car and very snug to the bottom. . . drove over 500 miles this Christmas/ new year holidays and never really noticed it.  :smiley:petrol seems good for a 2lt too. . .well at todays prices anyway.

Yeah, I was really surprised how good they are on fuel.........thought it was going to be much heavier on the fuel than it is.

Plus, as you say. the comfort is amazing for a 13 year old car (especially with the injuries). Never been in a car as comfy.

Wouldn't mind a colour concept interior for it though

Hi Mate,

Currently got the VR6 wheels back on cos it's snowed again up here in the night and the polished 17" rims don't go too well with salt.

I've got M3 rear lights, put some chrome bits inside (heater controls, gear knob & surround, door handles & heater vents) & some dial faces.

Like yourself, I have a DTM back box on as it looks so much better than the standard.

Engine is standard apart from a K&N 57i with heat shield & a rohr pipe.

Also put the loom in for the front fog lights to work.

Oh, and the angel eyes and grill as you can see on the pics.

The missus is currently using it as well, but as soon as she gets a new car again I'll look into lowering it (if the roads get any better round here that is!!!!!)

Bodywork wise, the car aint too bad but could do with getting some better condition doors or if anyone knows a good bodywork guy up this way who can match up Mystic blue, I'll get it booked in.

Got plans for yours?

cool stuff mate.

Not got many plans at the moment, only to iron a few problems out and to make her look even more in perfect condition.

Need a new middle box and was gonna change the DTM exhaust but might keep that on.

Also need to sort ABS too..

Just want to get her looking perfect at the momnet. . brand new chrome badges, couple cosmetic bits but nothing big. then get the engine looking lovely so you could eat your dinner off it!

I know what you mean,

I guess it comes from my biking days where you can see the engine more that my missus wonders why I spend so much time under the bonnet changing all the rusted bolts with either stainless or nickel plated ones.

The bits I have changed are purely to replace bits that were either knackered or were not up to scratch.

The heater grilles were all broken and the gear gaitor looked llike it had got 10yr old soup on it that wouldn't come off

The grill was really badly stone chipped when I bought the car so it had to be replaced ASAP and the lights came up at the right money so I put those on.

The car is terrible at this time of year as well cos it looks so diryt as soon as you go out in it so it has a wash after every run at the mo to keep the salt away.

As with any motor I have, I don't think I'll ever be satisfied with it untill all the bad parts have been replaced.

Going to look around for a second hand rocker cover to get colour matched to the car next.

I'll be doing the same mate,

It's my last day off work so I'll spend it doing what I enjoy the most I think.........keeping the car as clean as possible

Keep putting layer after layer of wax on the bottom of the doors and around the arches just to make sure.

The weather is not an issue......if I want to do it, it'll get done.

If it stays dry as well, I'll treat it to a hoovering.

The neighbours think I'm mad but they have a 53 plate Astra Active thats going rusty everywhere cos it's never cleaned so who's the real mad one!!

You got the ABS working yet??
