I agree that seems a bit excessive warm up time but cars can be different.
for me 10 minutes for guage to hit centre mark (plus add some more to let the oil warm up too  :nerd:)
Im sure either the ECU or the increased fuel consumption would indicate a problem if there was one.......
I also tend to go 2500 up to 3k in warmup phase

You always use more fuel when you start the car up for the first 10 minutes or so, even more so when its cold like it is now. Add the fact that you have 15 minutes of traffic lights and that is going to dent your MPG Steve. I do a lot of town driving and have been very impressed with the 2.0T for economy, I also have a manual and not a DSG which might help me as its easy to stick in 5th and just cruise (even more so with the remap :D).

Just a thought.

mine manual too :)

well went out just now, and just normal driving, got warm in 5mins or so, and up to temp(90) in around the 10. so seems the traffic seems to really effect the heating

If you leave the aircon in auto mode no heat will come out until the car is warm, you can sometimes get heat before this time by manually putting on the blowers if your that bothered.  I tend to leave it and put the bum wamers on  :smug:

TDI's do tend to take a little longer - I notied this with the wife's Mk4
