Need help with wheel size!!!

hi whats the widest wheels i can fit on my mk3 golf been looking at 8x16 with a 195/45/16 what mods would i need to do

If the offset is around et35 and your not too mad with the lowering they should go under a standard arch.

Not sure if this helps with your calcs: but I'm running wider TYRES than that right now (205mm / 45 profile on 16" wheels)... and that's on 7j 6.5J wheels with an ET45 offset...

That wheel is about 10mm narrow that it ought to be... so the car DOES look pinched (as in "too narrow" - not "stolen" ;) ) - and that's why why I'm fishing around for help with spacers.

I run 8x16 with a 195-45-16 and unmodified arches. Its lowered 70mm and doesnt really catch. The offset is ET22 aswell. They will fit!

hello all,

I've got a set of team dynamics omega wheels to go on mine - it's a 96 TDi mk3.  I intend to fit 205/45/17 - are they gonna go on no problem? ie, not catch or rub?

I will be buying coilovers too so what sort of drop can i achieve without running into any problems with these wheels/tyres?

You need to make sure the offset is et35 / et37, 205/40/17 is the correct tyre size and you could lower it around 40mm, any more then that and you will need to tweak the arches.

Offset is stamped inside the wheel, no 205/45/17's are the wrong size, they will throw your gearing out plus being bigger could lead to rubbing issues.
