Sorry to hear that dude. At least your recovering tho! What caused the accodent may i ask? It seems like a bit of bad outcome considering it was only a 60mph impact. It sorta makes you wonder just how safe our Mk2s are

Glad your ok tho mate.

It's difficult to say what caused the crash as I was asleep & Martin has no memory of the accident. It was at 6:00 am and we were travelling back from seeing a friend play a gig in London. So we had been travelling for quite a while. We were wheel clamped down there and had to walk to the main office to pay ?150 fine to get the clamp off. This took well over 4 hours to do and we were all tired after this. From what the police say there was some footage of the car drifting off towards the hard shoulder just before we crashed so they are assuming the driver fell asleep but there is no proof of this. I own an mk2 golf myself and have decided to sell it as I don't think I could sit in it again let alone drive one. I still have my mk1 and mk4 golf but I doubt I will de able to drive either of them this year.

damn thats nuts.. certainly sounds like he fell asleep.. years ago i was in a friends mk1 coming back in the early hours when he started to drift off while driving, luckily i was awake enough to realise we were heading across the road, yelled and smacked him awake in time.. so damn scary.. he was pretty shook..

to lose a friend like that is unimaginable. r i p

Its a shame to hear such bad news, but at least your ok. Just hope that his famiily aren't the sort to overcome their grief by sueing the driver for being asleep, that would be so unkind.

Best wishes for you, and hopefully you'll have the courage to drive again one day.
