you kno how all pug 106 gti owners hate saxo owners?

Quite odd that, considering they drive the same cars!

GTi enemy?  Mk1/2  escorts, astras, pug 205,  i suppose.

Mk 3 - 306 gti6, astra gsi,

A VR6 isn't a way of life, it's just a car.

In the late 80s early 90s it used to be the Astra, probably still the same now, although the 16V mk3 astra was a pretty rapid motor.
......now officially dubless.

Ive Been in a 5 way race between a Astra 1.4, a AX with a 1.6 swap, My car, An Excort Turbo and a Cossy down the A41.

The cossy and the escort spend most of the time ahead but i kept up with them quite well around the bends after we left the bypass, The Astra and AXs where easy tho. So i didnt really have anyone to race, The escorts where ahead, The Astra and AX where behind, And i was in the middle Playing with my sterio  ;)

That was the day i got my car off the clock (over 120MPH) On a little slope with damp conditions and a bend at the end, Had a few traction Issues round that bend and all 5 cars seemed to take it with a slight degree of sideways motion  ;)

Of course...That was the A41 in germany im talking about....Honest!

Mk4 1.8T's would probably give an mk2 8v a run for it's money.   8)
But I agree the normally aspirated mk4s are not so quick. >:(

I would imagine that you might be ok with Saxo's especially the 8v ones whichever they are.

I would avoid Civic Type Rs, Clio 172s etc. Renault 5 GTturbos, RS turbos. And definitley G40s should you be lucky enough to see one.

Stick to racing other Gti's and XR2is, XR3is, AXGTs etc etc.

Oh yeah.... You can race just about ANY mk4 Golf Gti and win but leave them funny R32 thingies well alone.

I was over in germany too the  other day and managed to get my mk 16valver up to 132 and a bit with another mk2 valver not so far behind me.  Looked at bit like my twin actually but single headlight convert.  I reckon she still had a litlle more in her but that was getting near maxed out id say.  The valver behind me got a bit of a shock me thinks!  Things get too hairy at that speed though and every slight bump makes your heart pound.
