MrVr6 - I really have struck a nerve with you ain't I?

You want to chill out - admit you made a mistake - and we'll get along famously.

Or

You can carry on trying to keep your pride in place and look a bit of a plum.

I was working on A series engines when you were still eating your Farley's.

Well i suppse working on 998cc austin mini engines would have been a bit of an accomplishment seeing as they were sh!t. Also having an OHV arrangement made them quite a bit of a pain. I never had one but worked on a friends and he had his bored to the customary 1340cc with fast road cam, LCB exhaust and twin SU's and it did go like a bit of a bastard.

Used to stop at the slightest hint of damp weather though, wonderous engineering putting the distributor right behind the grille.

good job VR6 fixes your motors

What config is a Golf engine - indeed most motors made after 1952?

I don't recall seeing a Sidevalve mini

you better check your fuel flaps again!

So you are saying that all golfs have an OHV arrangement?

I give up

where are the valves on these other  motors?

I don't even think any of their engines are anything other than dohc.

Please enlighten me oh sage - id like to know if a Golf had a pushrod motor! :D

Do you know the difference between OHV and OHC engines?

Hey shady you really do suck cock dont you.

Fair enough trying it on with me if i didnt know any thing about engines but it appears that you are either making it up or reading from a different book from me.

The mini engine has the cam in the block and the valves are operated by pushrods so it is therefore called a OHV and for you shady that means OVER HEAD VALVE.

The golf engine doesnt have a cam in the block and has it built in to the cylinder head. hence it is called OHC.

OVER HEAD CAM.

So you want to say that the 4 years I spent at college learning city and guilds 383 didnt teach me anything. And the tutors that I had were talking bollox.

You really are a sad man and need to learn the basics yourself. I hope you dont work on your car as you seem to talk out of your ass.

there seems to be the problem with you two.

You seem to have been reading too many books and magazines to come up with your own information.

You resort to pedantry.

I know where the cams go in both motors coz I have built both motors - KR and A.

Technically what you said is correct -  but what I said is also TRUE.

Sidvalves were the old skool motors where valves were - unsurprising not above the cylinder but on the side wall.

Pushrod motors and ohc motors have OHV - overhead valves duh!

please if you can't find a real arguement 9or inaccuracy) please desist from your words of no consequence.

BY the way Mod - I never mean to 'try' anything with you or indeed anyone. I just take the piss and give good honest advice (based on what I have done) when I can.

VR6 just seems to have an inferiority complex - or his level of dry humour is way beyond my comprehension/.
